Anders Environmental provided construction management for the initial phase of the Downing Reservoir remediation which consisted of the removal of over 300,000 cubic yards of contaminated soil that had accumulated during waste water treatment operations when the property was used to manufacture ammunition during World War II and also from a historical landfill area near the western edge of the reservoir. At its peak the project saw more than 200 truck loads a day moving contaminated soil and sediment out of the facility. More that 15,000 truck loads were removed during the course of the project. The primary contaminants found on this property were heavy metals, solvents, and asbestos.
